The Man with the Luggage

Lizzie has been collaborating with acclaimed theatre company Trestle on their latest show, 'The Man with the Luggage'. The show tours from 21st September.

A man strives to return home, in search of his past, hopeful of his future, and longing for those he left behind. As his journey unfolds, he finds his path repeatedly blocked and his identity endlessly questioned. His luggage and his status are lost as borders are crossed, languages confused, and modes of travel conspire to thwart him. Will he ever reach his destination? ...will his luggage? ...and will his identity arrive with him?

Informed by contemporary stories of migration and repatriation, The Man with the Luggage explores our relationship with home, with nationality, and with authority. It also delves into our dependence on travel and the multitude of obstacles that await us on our journeys through stations, through ports, and through life.

The Swallowing Dark

Lizzie's new play, 'The Swallowing Dark' will be opening in the Playhouse Studio in Liverpool on October 20th, followed by a run at Theatre503 in London from 2nd November.

Canaan and his son have come a long way to escape the horrors of Zimbabwe under Mugabe. But when Martha asks him to revisit his darkest memories, he’s forced to fight for their lives a second time.

Martha needs only an honest tale, but are either of them who they seem, and is the truth ever a simple story?

Performed in the intimacy of the re-opened Playhouse Studio, this world première of Lizzie Nunnery’s The Swallowing Dark is a psychological thriller that combines devastating power with the telling of a good story.
